Shoplifting.
Is it out of control?

No one getting nicked if it’s under £200, surely that’s a robbers charter.

I was chatting to a manager in Tesco who I know when he broke off and said Hold on I'm watching a woman who is going to walk out without paying This innocuous woman had a deep trolley packed to overflowing with a large bag for life hanging off a hook, also packed. We watched her go to self serve and stood there before making a break for it. I estimate the value at over £300 . He stopped her and he allowed her to walk off. I said Have you taken her name or at least banned her? I even said follow her to her car?. No , he said, she is well known. I said , there is no deterrent. At least shame her.

It's a new Tory policy of a way to feed the poor, cheaper than benefits.

Re: Shoplifting.
Its a policy copied directly from the US DNC. Everything is policed, apart from crime.

Pretty bizarre, in some countries it's considered a serious offence. Still, taking something for free is better than paying for it, so in the immortal words of WHO - good luck to them.

Not sure that supermarkets are THAT bothered as they make up the shortfall with their exorbitant price rises that honest people pay.
They also enable them with this culture of reducing checkouts that are manned (sorry, womaned) in favour of self service tills

I guess in places like John Lewis people just grab stuff and wander out.
Cant imagine 'security' does much to stop that when they leg it up Oxford St

Is it the 'cost of living crisis?
No, its because many people are opportunist CUNTS

There's a pub near me where every few minutes folk will come in with big bags of random stuff they've just shoplifted and hawk it to punters in the pub.

You can place orders with them and they'll come back half an hour later.

I dunno how they get away with it cos they all look like obvious crackhead shoplifters.

Re: Shoplifting.
Retailers are hugely hypocritical when it comes to law breaking and their cooperation.

A family debit card was stolen and used at a well known clothing store. This establishment showed no interest at all in searching their cctv, which features the payment area, when given the precise time and date of an illegal purchase ( and this was less than 24 hours later ).

Retailers are prepared to react when they suffer a loss but when they make a profit from an illegal act they show no interest.

Is that your way of saying you excuse this type of behaviour, comma?

Try telling that to the local shopkeepers where this is happening.

I'd be interested to see how much supermarkets make from the little wheeze where you can scan shopping bags and then when you check out they ask you how many bags you have so they can try and charge you again.
Good little earner I am sure when they do the maths and realise they produced 50 million bags and sold 70 million

"Not sure that supermarkets are THAT bothered as they make up the shortfall with their exorbitant price rises that honest people pay."

you mean aside from the CEOs going out of their way to talk about it? or giving staff bodycams?

if you look at supermarket operating profits you'll see you're talking rubbish about 'making up the shortfall'.

RBshorty 2:07 Wed Sep 13
Re: Shoplifting.
The only reason Bodycams are being handed out is too protect the company from being liable when the employee try’s to take them to the cleaners after being turned over by a member of the public. Got sweet FA to do with protecting their workers.

If you’re really interested what’s going to happen. Pay attention too Californian legislation coming up. Which is basically saying.” If anyone try’s and restrain/or man handle anyone from shoplifting.” They are in danger of getting prosecute and fined $10000.
Hope this helps.

Goose.

Many many moons ago a friend was a department manager at a sainsburys freezer centre (remember them?)

They worked on 2% gp. Wouldn’t take to much to put them into the red.

Probably why you don’t see them anymore.

Joe - correct.

Pre-covid most uk supermarkets were somewhere around 4-5% op profit.

Now most are around 2 or 3%.
But still some believe they are 'profiteering'.

Anyone seen the footage of the shopkeeper apprehending a suspected thief in a shop In Peckham and the protests that followed ?
The video as is always the case only shows part of the story with the guy grabbing hold of the woman and not what went on in the lead up to it.

Warchild 3:38 Wed Sep 13
Re: Shoplifting.
Yep, saw that. Typical BLM bollocks of playing the victim instead of that community actually taking some responsibility for their actions. The woman tried to steal something and then attacked the shopkeeper when he tried to stop her but no she is the poor little victim because of her colour.
